Clay Workshops at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center
The Oldham County Schools Arts Center hosts several clay workshops throughout the year. These are great weekend programs designed for all levels and are a unique way to explore something new.
The Oldham County Schools Arts Center hosts two hour ceramics workshops for anyone ages 5-adult to try their hand at sculpting clay. These are very laid back workshops with an instructor and project for participants to follow.
Valentine’s Day Clay Workshop on Saturday, February 12, 2022!
The clay ceramics workshops are typically held on a weekend and involve a holiday theme. You might find workshops held close to Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day and Easter with each project theme based on the holiday. Even though there is a project, participants are free to choose their own ideas and get creative.
The cost for the two hour workshop is $15 per participant (or slab of clay). The cost includes one pound of clay, instructions, all sculpting, stamping, painting and other materials and firing. We find that we always have plenty of clay leftover to make small stamped pieces or something else extra along with our big piece.
Once you are finished with your ceramics pieces, the Arts Center fires them and notifies you when they are ready for pickup (usually the following week). The workshops are held in the multi-purpose room so there is plenty of space to spread out and sit with your family or friends. For 2021 workshops, the Arts Center is asking all participants to pre-register (no walk-ins) and everyone must wear a mask the entire time.
The clay ceramics workshops are a great way to have some indoor fun during the cooler months. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just looking for something new to try, the workshops offer great family fun.
There is a Valentine’s Day workshop coming up on February 13th 1-3pm. Some of the projects for this month are: clay plates, roses, vases and functional pottery.
The Oldham County Schools Arts Center is located at 7105 Floydsburg Road in Crestwood.
