Nestled along Old LaGrange Road in Crestwood, Kentucky, it is an internationally recognized center of gardening, plants, and education. Once the home of legendary plantsman, Theodore Klein and his family, Yew Dell is a site of wonder from historically-significant buildings, beautiful nature, and inspiring gardening. It offers an exceptional experience for the family through display gardens and hiking trails as well as a delicious seasonal menu at Martha Lee’s Kitchen and treasures in the Garden Gift Shop. Throughout the year, Yew Dell offers an ambitious schedule of education programs and community events.
Yew Dell has more than a dozen garden displays that feature a variety of plants to both educate and inspire anyone to connect with gardening. From seeing a diverse color pallet to learning about unique aspects of plants, Yew Dell’s goal is to delight the senses and stimulate the brain. With a variety of trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials, you can expect something to be in
bloom every day.
In addition to garden displays, visitors can connect with natural beauty along the hiking trails in Yew Dell’s Woodlands. With an easy walk that is a little more than a mile, families can see two lakes that have become home for native wildlife and a former livestock grazing field that has been transformed into a pollinator meadow.
There’s no need to worry about packing a lunch. Yew Dell’s on-site café, Martha Lee’s Kitchen, opened in 2023 and offers a delectable menu with something everyone in the family can enjoy. And with a view of the pollinator meadow, you can’t find a better place to eat.
The Fairy Forest is a must see at Yew Dell. With the help of our volunteers, it is a magical haven for visitors young and old. During the regular season, the village features more than two dozen fairy houses and opportunities for families to interact- including a mailbox to write to
#YewDellFairies. Yew Dell also holds a Garden Fairy Month in June to include additional activities.
Throughout the year, Yew Dell hosts community events including Boo Dell around Halloween and Yuletide around the holidays. During these ticketed events, families can count on opportunities to connect with plants and with each other. Both events have quickly become a family tradition.
The staff at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens welcomes you and your family to come visit and discover your own obsession with plants while making lifelong memories. Families can also benefit from two levels of memberships which offer discounts and free admission throughout the
year. For more information, visit yewdellgardens.org
