Preschool Fun in Oldham County
“The days are long, but the years are short.” Filling your preschooler’s day with fun, educational and meaningful activities can sometimes seem daunting. Don’t worry, we have some ideas for you!
As parents and caregivers, we love seeing our preschool children explore, learn and grow. Oldham County has a few places that offer preschool programs and activities. We have also included a couple of drop-in childcare options. Learn more about them below.

All About Kids Gymnastics
6400 Crestwood Station, Crestwood
Fun Zone – Monday through Friday 12pm-2pm (Includes Preschool Open Gym 12pm-1pm, except on Fridays). Saturdays 9am-1pm (ages 10 and under)

Bounce Back Gymnastics
503 Parker Place, LaGrange
This fun gym has preschool open gym, all ages open gym and other fun events. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with updated hours and events.

Creasey Mahan Nature Center
12501 Harmony Landing Road, Goshen
Creasey Mahan Nature Center has hands-on learning centers and dioramas that children will love. There is a Magical Forest Imagination Station specifically for preschoolers. Create a craft and learn about nature inside the center. Outside, take advantage of the open spaces and super cool Forest Friends Playground located at the Nature Preserve. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with updated hours. Presently, they’re open five days a week. There is a suggested $5 donation.

Crestwood United Methodist Church Mothers of Preschoolers

One Friday morning each month 9am-12pm. (Sept-May)
Children’s programming available while you’re’ in the meeting.
Gallery 104 Art Starts
104 East Main Street, LaGrange
Read aloud and art project geared towards little hands, but all ages are welcome. Follow Gallery 104 on Facebook to keep up with when programming is scheduled.

LaGrange Railroad Museum
412 East Main Street, LaGrange
Tours are available during open hours. This small museum is a great hidden gem where preschool train lovers will be in heaven. There are working models set up that children can watch, a fun train car to sit in and another dinner car to explore. It is FREE to visit, but donations are greatly appreciated. The museum also has two children’s programs: Reading by the Rails and Ernie’s Lil Engines.

Little Big Gem Mine & Rock Shop
1000 KY-524, LaGrange
Rocks are a treasure to preschoolers and believe us, when we say your preschooler will love Little Big Gem Mine & Rock Shop. There is a thirty-foot sluice for mining and collecting rock and gem treasures. A giant sandbox was also recently added for children to use. There’s no fee to visit, but the mining bags vary in pricing and can easily be split between guests. This is a place that all ages can enjoy. Read our review here. Oldham County Cooperative Extension Office with Centerfield Elementary School
4512 Centerfield Drive, Crestwood
During the school year, the extension office hosts Laugh & Learn playdates for children geared for school readiness at surrounding elementary schools. The program is free. Call the extension office to register.
Oldham County History Center
106 N 2nd Avenue, LaGrange
Barnyard Fun programs are great for preschoolers and school-aged children. Saturday mornings 10am-12pm FREE (donations appreciated)

Oldham County Parks & Playgrounds
Preschoolers love to play outside! We have a list of Oldham County’s Parks & Playgrounds for you here where you can learn details about each one. Oldham County currently has two spray grounds to enjoy during the warmer months. Take a hike, play in the sand, ride bikes, swing, fish or climb on rocks at an Oldham County Park.
Oldham County Public Library
There are three branches located in Crestwood, LaGrange & Goshen
Each branch offers preschool story times, playtimes and other programs. The children’s programming is absolutely wonderful! FREE
