Christmas Lights around Oldham County

The last few nights have been unusually free for our family so we used the time to go Christmas light hunting.  During our two nights of driving around Southern Oldham County, we found some great displays and wanted to share them with you.  We also wanted to share some fun ideas for you and your family to do this holiday season.  Nothing fancy, mostly cheap and full of fun memories.
photo backseat fun_zpspaorcjyz.jpgWhen my kids were younger (and I was too), each year I would surprise them with one night full of Christmas light fun.  One year I did a Polar Express theme where each kid received a golden ticket that got punched at different stops (Starbucks for hot cocoa, Little Ceasers for pizza etc).  I decorated our car windows with fun holiday messages, put battery powered lights in the interior, passed out glow necklaces and funny holiday headbands (all from Dollar Tree).  Each kid also got a scavenger hunt list and marker to use during the Christmas light trip.
Now I realize the holidays are busy and I’ve already lost some of you.  You don’t have to create a Polar Express each year for your kids.  Simply drive around some of Oldham County’s neighborhoods and make your own fun.  See who can spot the most unique display.  Who likes traditional white lights and who likes the bright lights?  Can you find the biggest and best displays?
photo sheets_zpsml6zc9lo.jpgIf we could give an award for most participation in a neighborhood it would go to Cherrywood in LaGrange.  We found other great displays in Washington Manor in LaGrange, Camden Manor in Crestwood and Heritage Place in Crestwood.  Some other places worth mentioning are Brentwood in Crestwood and the magnificent display on the corner of US Hwy 42 and Hayfield Way in the Countryside neighborhood in Prospect.

Now these are only a handful of the neighborhoods in Oldham County.  Grab some hot chocolate or a treat, get in the car and go explore the lights.  There are some really great displays.
