What to Do at Light Up LaGrange
LaGrange kicks off the holiday season each year with Light Up LaGrange. There is a full day’s worth of activities, so make your plans now!
Light Up LaGrange is always one of the more popular events in Oldham County. Last year’s ceremony was very scaled back, but all of the fun is back, plus more!
Light Up LaGrange is set for Saturday, December 4th! Start Saturday off with Breakfast with Santa or Breakfast with the Grinch! Breakfast with Santa is hosted by LaGrange Elementary School PTA and is held at Hometown Pizza. Breakfast is 7-10am and is $5 for adults and $4 for kids (cash or check).
Breakfast with the Grinch is held at the Oldham County History Center from 9am-11am. Admission is a new, unwrapped toy (which will later be donated to HighPoint Charitable Services) or $3 per person. Dine with the Grinch, Anna and Elsa and Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
Once you’re stuffed, stick around Main Street! Businesses will be open for shopping. We love seeing the unique gifts and beautiful window displays. City Place will be host to several more fun activities. Check out the Farmers’ Market from 3-9pm, different choir performances 3-9pm and new this year-an ice skating rink 3-9pm! In the past, there was also a beautiful nativity scene at City Place.
Another fun photo opp will be at the Oldham Chamber. Hop in their snowglobe for a unique holiday picture! How fun! Other photo opps during the event include a nativity scene at Dairy Queen and an old red farm truck thanks to Starview Farms.
One of our favorite little gems in LaGrange is the LaGrange Railroad Museum. They also invite visitors to come over for Light Up LaGrange fun. From 3-5pm, the museum will host cookie decorating and crafts. Walk through the holiday decorated train cars 5-9pm. The Judith M. Millinery Supply also has Santa hat decorating 11am-4pm. All proceeds going to the Oldham County Humane Society.
There’s more! The lighting ceremony hasn’t even happened yet. Stake out a spot on Main Street to catch the arrival of Santa on one of Oldham County’s decorated fire trucks. The parade is set to start at 6pm. From 6:30-9:00pm, meet Santa & Mrs. Claus at the Dahlgreen Barn near the Oldham County History Center.
