Where to Take Holiday Photos around Oldham County
So maybe you’re wondering where to take a holiday photo this year with all of the event cancelations and social distancing in place. Not to worry, there are plenty of places around Oldham County that with a little planning, your family can snag the perfect (or not so perfect) holiday photo!
2020 calls for creativity and of course, flexibility. Below is a list of places around Oldham County where you can find pretty, unique and classic places to take a holiday photo. Most of these are free!
Santa Photo Opportunities
Downtown LaGrange during “Theme Thursday” on December 17th, you’ll find Santa and Mrs. Claus on Main Street next to LaGrange Coffee Roasters 5-9pm.
Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve set up a cardboard cut-out of Mr. & Mrs. Claus for the ultimate safe holiday photo. It’s located on the front porch of Mahan Manor (follow the signs to the office).
Reardon’s Fruit Market & Garden Stand on Saturday, December 12th 12-5pm.
Sauerbeck Family Drive-in Polar Express Experience on December 8, 9, 10 & 12. Santa will be there for pictures, there is a special reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and the Polar Express movie. $40 carload
Paddock Shops socially distance photos with Santa on Saturday and Sunday 12-4pm through December 20th. They also have free carriage rides and several other places around the shops for great photos.
Cabela’s is offering social distance photos with Santa with a reservation now through the holiday season.
Maybe Santa isn’t your thing, but you still want a pretty holiday photo. Here are some other options for you.
Knock on Wood Country Mercantile will have a vintage red truck at their store on Saturday, December 12th from 11am-2pm. They have invited the community to come on down the hill for a photo and to enjoy a warm cup of cider or other treat from the café. Finish your holiday shopping while you’re there, too!
Downtown LaGrange turned on their holiday lights on the 5th! Stroll down Main Street or over to the courthouse square for some pretty pictures.
Maples Park in Crestwood decorated their barns and some trees for the holiday season. The big white barn looks gorgeous. The park does close at dusk, so try some daytime or right before sundown pictures at this location. The lights go live at 5:15pm every day.
Nativity Scenes
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Crestwood set up a beautiful photo backdrop for the community to use. There is a bench surrounded by pretty lit trees, camels in the background and of course, a nativity scene. Use this space for photos or for reflecting.
City Place in LaGrange has a gorgeous life-size nativity scene. City Place is located at 112 S 1st Ave, Lagrange, KY 40031.
