Plan a day of fun, a semester of learning or a membership for those on your holiday list. Giving the gift of time is something everyone can appreciate and cherish. 

Lessons & Classes

Purchasing lessons or classes is a perfect gift for someone wanting to learn something new or perfect a skill they already have! Oldham County has several places to learn gymnastics, martial arts, music, horseback riding and more.  Some local favorites include All About Kids Sports, Power & Grace Gymnastics, Bounce Back Gymnastics, Next Level Martial Arts and the Oldham County Schools Arts Center.  Everyone Can Paint and Mudsplats Ceramics have classes that you and your loved one can do together too. Yew Dell Botanical Gardens also offers a variety of one day classes throughout the year.

A Day of Family Fun

The memories you make together will last longer than another toy. At Little Big Gem and Mine Rock Shop visitors can “mine” for rocks and gems together.  A gift certificate or night together at Sauerbeck Family Drive-in is a great gift idea for all ages! LaGrange’s Emerge Escape Room is also a fun, unique gift option.

A Local Meal or Treat

A nice meal shared together is always well received.  Take your friend or family member out for a nice cup of coffee or tea to catch up over the holidays.  Oldham County has plenty of local restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream spots and bakeries. You can now sit for afternoon tea at From the Ground Up Bookstore in LaGrange!

Gift a Membership

Memberships are great gifts and will usually pay for itself after a few visits. If you have a nature lover to buy for, consider a membership to Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood or Creasey Mahan in Goshen.  Members receive discounted pricing for the special events.  A summer pool membership to the John Black Aquatic Center is a great gift for families to enjoy together.

Summer Camp

Your loved one will appreciate your winter thoughtfulness when school is out and summer boredom sets in.  Oldham County has many Summer Camp options.

Charitable Donation

Have someone to buy for that “already has everything they need?” Consider making a charitable donation in their honor.  Oldham County also hosts some great charitable events throughout the year.  Is there someone on your list that always wishes for tickets to a special fundraiser or event? Buy them tickets while also supporting local organizations. Tickets to The Bourbon & Wine Experience supporting the South Oldham Rotary, Twilight in the Garden supporting Yew Dell Botanical Gardens and The Super Drew Derby Fundraiser at Third Turn Oldham Gardens are all great gift options.

Tickets to a Show

Pewee Valley’s Little Colonel’s Players has season passes available for the theater enthusiast and the Oldham County Schools Arts Center has shows throughout the entire year.  This is a great way to support local actors. If you missed this year’s Nutcracker in a Nutshell production, set a reminder to get tickets for next year.  Dancers from Crestwood’s Gillman’s Dance Academy are in this condensed Nutcracker production and it’s perfect for children to experience.

CSA Box

Perhaps a subscription to a local CSA or beef bundle would be a wonderful gift this year!  Some Oldham County farms to check out: Hunter Creek Farms, Rootbound Farm, Ashlock Farms, Foxhollow Farm and Ashbourne Farms. A subscription for beautiful flowers from Rosedale Farm would truly be unique and amazing.

Outdoor Fun

Nachand Canoe & Kayak is a great option for warmer months for spending time together outside floating down Harrods Creek. More one on one time can include a local tour.  TRF Sanctuary Farm and Hermitage Farm offer tours of the farm and property.  We also loved touring Harvest Home Dairy and Woodland Farm.  Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve has special events including workshops and hiking that would be appreciated by your outdoorsy friends and family.  Buy tickets to attend with your loved one or gift a gift certificate.

Overnight Getaway

Do you have someone on your shopping list that could use a night away? Oldham County has some unique Bed & Breakfast places to enjoy such as: Pillow & Paddock Bed & Breakfast, The Inn at Spring Run Farm and Bluegrass Country Estate.  Downtown LaGrange also has some unique Air BNB options.
