Great Places for an After-School Treat

School’s back in session! Can you believe it?  Whether it’s August or January, after-school treats always hit the spot!

Sometimes a sweet treat can lighten the mood and get the conversation going. Where’s your favorite place around Oldham County to pull up a chair and hear about the school day from your student?

Dough Baby Donuts

Maybe you picked up donuts for breakfast, but have you ever enjoyed them as an after-school treat?  What about with ice cream and other toppings?  Dough Baby Donuts has afternoon hours where you can find donuts, other baked goods like cookies, cannoli’s, cheesecake and ice cream!

Please & Thank You

Located out in Prospect, Please & Thank You is a great place for our North Oldham students to grab a delicious chocolate chip cookie and drink.  They have other great baked goods too and the patio and hearth are great places to sit and chat with someone.

Jericho Farmhouse

Jericho Farmhouse is a quick, easy drive just north of LaGrange.  They opened up their new store this spring and they are ready to serve their delicious homemade ice cream.  Have you ever heard of ice cream nachos?  It’s worth driving out to Jericho Farmhouse to see what you’re missing!

Neveria y Paleteria Cinco de Mayo

This great spot is tucked away near LaGrange’s Main Street shopping district. Neveria y Paleteria Cinco de Mayo has authentic homemade Mexican ice cream, popsicles and snacks.  The prices are very affordable too, starting at $2 for a mini popsicle!

Revival Coffee Company with Q&A Sweet Treat

LaGrange’s newest spot for a caffeine boost has more than just coffee.  Their Facebook feed always has enticing photos of their new concoctions whether it’s coffee, tea, smoothies, italian sodas or energy drinks.  Revival Coffee Company has a few baked goods from their LaGrange neighbor Q&A Sweet Treats at their truck too!

Fitz Freeze Frozen Treats

I am a sucker for Hawaiian shaved ice! Fitz Freeze in Buckner has so many flavors to choose from along with ice cream novelties.  If you can’t catch them driving their truck through your neighborhood, head over to their stand in the afternoon or evening.

Knock on Wood Cafe

It’s a bit of a drive for some families, but the atmosphere at Knock on Wood will help you relax after school. The café has ice cream, homemade cakes, pies and cookies.  If you’re wondering what they’re serving up, just take a look at their Facebook page and try not to drool.  Grab a slice of something sweet and eat by the Ohio River.

We hope you find yourself and your students a great place to catch up and enjoy a treat together.  Make sure to check with each place for their updated hours and treats on hand!

If you’re looking for more ice cream or cool treats, here’s an even bigger list!
